You will probably want to give certain exams more study time than others, so try and find the balance that works for you.

 

2) Arrange the study space you use
Try to ensure you have enough space to spread out your books and notes. Is there enough light? Is your chair comfortable enough? Are your distracting computer games out of sight? Remove any distractions plus make sure you feel as comfortable and can focus as much as possible. For some individuals, no distractions may mean almost complete silence, but for others, some background music might help. Some people need everything totally tidy and organized before they can concentrate, but others enjoy a more cluttered environment. Take time to think what works for your study and take time to get it right.

Every person is different so develop a routine that works for you. You might study better in the morning so start early before taking a break at lunchtime. If you are more productive at night, then take a longer break earlier on in the day so you are ready to study more down come evening.

 

7) Snack on some brain food
What you decide to snack on at exam time can really have an impact on energy levels and focus. Try and keep away from junk food as this will impact productivity. Ensure you keep your body and brain energized by picking nutritious foods that have been proven to help with concentration and memory. Examples of these foods are fish, nuts, seeds, yogurt and blueberries. You should take the same approach on exam day and eat a good meal before the test, based on foods that will provide a slow release of energy throughout. Sugar may seem appealing, but your energy levels will crash an hour later.

 

8) Plan your exam day
Try and prepare everything well in advance of your exams. Avoid leaving it to the day before and then suddenly realize you don’t know what you’re supposed to bring or the way to the exam location. Get familiar with the exam rules and requirements of the exam and plan your route and trip time. Do a test run of the trip to the exam location if you are really unsure but if you can’t, then write down clear directions. Add extra time once you’ve found how long it takes to get to the exam as traffic or something unexpected could always come up. You don’t want to arrive at the exam having had to run there and as a result feel frazzled from losing your way. You could also make plans to travel to the exam with friends or classmates, as long as you know they’re likely to be punctual.

 

9)Drink lots of water
Last on the list of Top Tips for Successful Studying is to remember that being well hydrated can be essential for your brain to work at peak performance. Ensure you keep drinking lots of water throughout your revision, and also on the exam day.
